The ventilated indoor air is passed through a heat recovery coil containing a refrigerant liquid, which causes the heat energy to transfer to the refrigerant and the air to cool down.
The now warm brine is pumped to a heat pump, which extracts the energy and returns it to the building’s heating system. In this way, the thermal energy contained in the indoor air can be reused.
